# Sunk Cost Effect

Sunk Cost Effect is the tendency for money, time, or effort that cannot be recovered to influence what you choose next, even when the future costs and benefits should be enough to make the decision.

## When to use

- The user names Sunk Cost Effect or asks whether this pattern may matter in a real situation.
- The agent needs a focused lens for reviewing a decision, claim, estimate, memory, judgment or interaction.
- The user wants a practical check rather than a label applied to a person.

## Workflow

1. Restate the relevant situation or claim in neutral terms before applying the bias label.
