Free cognitive-bias Agent Skill

Zero-Sum Bias

Use Zero-Sum Bias as a focused cognitive-bias lens. Explain the pattern, check whether it plausibly fits the situation, surface an alternative non-bias explanation, and return a practical counter-check without diagnosing people or claiming causation.

What the agent should do

Use one bias carefully, not as a diagnosis.

Canonical definition

Zero-sum bias is our tendency to treat a non-zero-sum situation as if every gain for one side must create a matching loss for another. Sometimes resources really are fixed. The bias appears when we import that logic into a situation where several people could succeed, both sides could benefit, or the resource is not actually capped. Our brain has apparently opened a competition before checking whether anyone needed one.

Boundary

A lens, not a verdict.

The skill must preserve uncertainty, surface a non-bias explanation and avoid turning a cognitive-bias label into a claim about a person's motives, intelligence or mental health.
