Use Hot–Cold Empathy Gap as a focused cognitive-bias lens. Explain the pattern, check whether it plausibly fits the situation, surface an alternative non-bias explanation, and return a practical counter-check without diagnosing people or claiming causation.
What the agent should do
The Hot–Cold Empathy Gap is the difficulty of predicting preferences, behavior, or experience across different visceral or affective states. In a relatively cold state, people can underappreciate how hunger, pain, craving, fear, anger, sexual arousal, or other hot states will change motivation; in a hot state, they can also overproject the current state into the future. The point is state dependence, not a rule that emotion makes decisions irrational.
